DANCE YOUR WAY ACROSS ASIA
The ultimate dance contest for students!

Singapore, 13th December 2011 – GATSBY is the proud organizer of the widely popular Dance Competition for the 4th consecutive year. Spanning across 8 countries – Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand, this contest seeks to search for Asia’s best student dancer.

The contest accepts all dance genres, be it Hip-hop, Reggae, B-boy, Popping, Locking, Freestyle, etc. 1 – 3 members are allowed per team, and only students can join the contest.

Teams will compete in 1 preliminary round, where renowned local dancers will make up the judging panel. After which, 8 teams will be selected to compete in the Singapore Final which will be held on 18th February 2012, where a winning team is decided upon to represent Singapore. We are honoured to be able to invite 2 guest judges from Japan, namely Charisma Kantaro and Fishboy, both of which are critically acclaimed dancers in Japan’s dance scene, with many prestigious titles under their belt.

The Singapore Champion will then be sent to Tokyo, Japan to battle it out on the dance floor with their Asian counterparts on 10th March 2012. The overall winner of the Asia Grand Final will be rewarded with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on an all-expenses paid dance exchange tour to any 1 of the 8 participating countries and experience the different dance cultures in Asia!

CONTEST DATES AND SCHEDULE

26 November 2011 – 16 January 2012
Contest application opens to all students.

4 February 2012
All contestants will be screened by judges in a preliminary round held at O-School’s dance studio. 8 teams will make it through to the Singapore Final.

18 February 2012
GATSBY Dance Competition Singapore Final will be held. Contest winner will fly on an all-expenses paid trip to represent Singapore in the GATSBY Dance Competition Asia Grand Final in Tokyo, Japan.

10 March 2012 GATSBY Dance Competition Asia Grand Final begins, where 8 countries compete for the right to be crowned as Asia’s number 1 student dancer.
