Confessions of a Foodie PR Girl

Being part of Publicist PR has allowed me to be able to do what I love – meet new people and eat. Why eat you may ask? Since the day I stepped into Publicist PR, I was assigned the lifestyle – food accounts, hence being able to eat.

I was given access to and alliances with chefs, restaurateurs, food photographers, food influencers and food organizations to solidify meaningful consumer and trade media coverage—in both traditional and social media outlets through hosting.

In order for me to be a good host, I needed to research on the finer points of dining as well as wine pairing.  Fortunately, as a foodie, this comes quite naturally for me.

Apart from getting to sample great cuisine, the best part about being a lifestyle publicist is to be able to meet new friends including celebrities. I have enjoyed working with the clients and appreciate the labor of love for chefs to prepare a great meal.

Meeting the stars for a tasting session definitely leaves you star struck! I had to keep a straight face and professional demeanor despite being fan-girl of Rosalyn Lee (Rozz), Stephanie Carrington and Liv Lo!  My tip for PR enthusiasts is to always smile and be prepared with list of talking points before introducing the chef. That pretty much leaves you star-stuck yet still doing your job without fumbling over.

I have also managed to meet up with other amazing people such as William from Only William, The Influencer Media, The Smart Local, Simply Mommie, Accidental Mum Blogger, Honeycombers, Thumbs For Food and Be Wicked! Magazine.

Amanda
