SINGAPORE, 14th March 2016 – The glamourous Peranakan Place on Emerald Hill has a added new sophisticated cocktail gastrobar on its stretch.
Black Nut, a new chic Asian-themed restaurant and bar, opened on 2 Emerald Hill last Thursday with a glamourous Raunchy Rojak party
The star-studded guest list included MTV VJ Hanli Hoefer, Rapper ShiGGa Shay, DJ Tabitha Nauser, DJ Sonia Chew, Singer Daphne Khoo, Musician Jon Chua and Actor Tosh Rock as well as influencers Isabel Tan, Tricia Ong and Brenda Ng.
Over 250 guests packed the 70-seater, 2-storey Peranakan shophouse that caters to professionals seeking an elevated gastro experience right on Orchard Road.
In for an evening of raucous fun, the guests rocking the party savoured Asian-inspired cocktails with an Peranakan inspired food menu. Truly both raunchy and rojak are the inventive cocktails - named after famous Asian colloquial phases (Steady Pom Pipi, Kilat Kilat, Chut Pattern, Tian Swee Confectionery, Sio Ah, Power Chendol, Huat Ah) with splashes of Asian and Chinese spice - pandan leaf, chilli padi, lemon grass, corn kernels, jelly noodles, gula melaka.
To match the quirky cocktails, the makan is imaginatively fusion. Think Balukoo Wanton, KimChi Burger, Ayam Bakar Burger, Indonesia Spiced Satay, Peranakan Hot Wings or Balinese Ribs.
Adding just the right dash of spice was Thai-American actor, model Utt Panichkul as the party host. To add shine to the beautiful people, Black Nut’s vintage Beauty Parlour whipped out exotic ethnic scarves and sarees along with glittery tattoos and bindis. Black Nut fortune master bestowed fortune cookies with raunchy quotes while sexy singlet-clad "kopi boys" grooved to tune of Silentó - Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)
Dressed specially for the occasion with colourful oriental brollies, peonies, red dragons and furry lions, Black Nut has the feel of an exotic gentlemen’s drinking den. The décor of vintage signs, collectibles and old photographs including an old 1900’s Straits Time print and giant Peranakan robes adorning the walls quite simply transports you to another era.
